SAIRO is the research and assessment office within UCLA’s Student Affairs organization. Our work focuses on keeping Student Affairs staff and other UCLA constituents up to date about the backgrounds,
experiences, and needs of students; assisting Student Affairs departments in assessing their services;
and contributing to campus- and UC system-wide research and assessment efforts.

Join us to learn what our undergraduate students think about our advising programs and services on campus. Findings include where students are receiving different academic advising services, aggregate ratings of their perception of the services, and how those contribute to their  academic goals. The Career Advising module asked undergraduate students if they sought career advising and how the services benefit their career preparations as well as areas for improvement. Survey data also revealed the reasons students do not utilize these services.

Join SAIRO’s Undergraduate Research Partnership Initiative (URPI) students as thy present the findings from their study examining how first generation college students at UCLA leverage marginalized forms of cultural capital to achieve their educational and career goals. Including the questions of: 1. What mindsets, behaviors or strategies do first-generation college students draw upon in order to navigate the postsecondary institutional environment in pursuit of their educational and career goals? 2. What can higher education institutions do to support and strengthen these mindsets, behaviors and strategies?
