Background:

 

UCLA was one of six universities across the country participating in the CLASS Project, sponsored by Princeton University with grant funding from the Ford Foundation. The goal of this national research project was to understand better the opportunities and challenges posed by diversity in our society and in higher education.  More specifically, the CLASS project is an educational research and policy study focused on three areas:  1) how campus life and learning are affected by diversity; 2) how institutional policies and programs can best be organized to maximize the benefits of diversity; 3) how to build broader capacity for sustained research and policy analysis for communicating findings from those analyses to a general public.
